There has been increasing interest in the links between mental health, stigma and NTDs. This has led to an increase in NTD funding in this area and many projects emerging that focus on these issues. However, evidence of effectiveness of interventions (i.e. proof under real-life conditions) promoting mental wellbeing amongst people affected by NTDs is limited. Making sure that we can learn across projects and programmes working on these issues is critically important to strengthening NTD programmes and health systems to be able to respond to the holistic support needs of affected populations.
To support us to learn from each other across the NTD community, this interactive map has been produced in partnership with the NNN (Neglected Tropical Disease NGO Network) cross cutting task group addressing Disease management, Disability and Inclusion, (DMDI)- Mental Wellbeing and Stigma Working Group- to document ongoing implementation research projects and programme activities that are working to understand best practices in supporting the mental wellbeing of people affected by NTDs. By clicking on each of the locations marked on the map below, you will be able to learn more about the specific project in that area; the aims of the project; and who to contact to understand more about the ongoing work. You can also find a list of organisations and resources below that are linked to the ongoing projects highlighted. Please refer to "More Publications" at the bottom of this page for further publications related to stigma and mental health.
Please do share with us any projects or programmes that you would like added to the map by contacting InfoNTD via info@infontd.org.
