ASASS-Burundi
ASASS is a diverse group of national, regional, and international volunteers, participating locally from our international bases. They support adolescent girls, pregnant women, new mothers, and their families by supporting access to health information and antenatal care. They connect users with public and private healthcare, education, and social services centers. They use social networks, social media, and new technologies to provide training workshops in low-resource settings.
ASASS volunteers locally for the Association pour la Solidarité et l’Assistance Socio-Sanitaire (ASASS), a non-profit registered in Burundi and with the United Nations Volunteering Organisation. They develop strategies and support projects to reduce maternal and infant death, and infrastructures for access to:
- social aid
- family leadership
- home child care & protection
- development
- quality education and career learning and economic empowerment
- legal aid
- water sciences, hygiene & sanitation
- and “Learn Per View” listening and discussion workshops.
ASASS applies the latest knowledge in science and technology to design innovative, effective, and practical low-cost healthcare information, educational resources, and sustainable development solutions. They provide these to charities, schools, hospitals, cooperatives, and villages and cities to ensure care for women, children, refugees, people with mental and physical disabilities, and their families. These practical, evidence-based interventions break down barriers to high-quality healthcare for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Click here to read more about their approach.
ASASS treasures diversity and the contribution that each of us can bring to ensuring the well-being of people in Burundi and all over the world.
