Leprosy is a complex offense that must be analyzed in a broad context, ranging from social and historical nuances up to current reality. After reviewing the literature, this thesis traces some historical elements of leprosy and presents how the offense is constituted in these days. Also, knowing the evidences collected, the this thesis shows, with commentaries from documents and the authors' experience, the policies undertaken by the National Leprosy Control and policies undertaken by the Program of Paraná State Leprosy Control.
