The Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Vietnam) has made tremendous strides in reducing its disease burden from tropical infections, including malaria and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). It now joins South Korea, Japan, and the eastern half of China as nations or regions that have achieved great successes in disease control through a combination of economic reforms, mass drug preventive treatment programs, and other public health interventions [13].
