  abstract = {<p>Lymphatic filariasis (LF) is a vector-borne neglected tropical disease (NTD) targeted for elimination as a public health problem. Infection with any of the 3 species of filarial parasites, Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi and B. timori, disrupts normal lymphatic vessel function and leads to chronic disabling consequences, manifest as hydrocele, lymphoedema and elephantiasis. The Global Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (GPELF) established by WHO aims to stop transmission and alleviate suffering among affected patients. WHO recommends feasible, cost-effective approaches to put an end to one of the world’s leading causes of avoidable disability.</p>
